CAMELFORD Town Council has agreed a 4.98% increase in precept for the year 2018/19.
The figure was announced at last week’s town council meeting by mayor, Cllr Rob Rotchell.
The precept has been set at £227,820, a 4.98% increase.
In making their decision, the council looked at the income and expenditure budget for the next financial year in a working group of all members.
Discussions surrounding income lines include a car park income from the ticket machine if installed; grants (including s106 development monies), money from allotments and money from reserves (previously precepted for projects that were not completed).
Expenditure lines included increases in office salary budget, insurance to take into account new services such as the library, skatepark and cemetery, firework display budget.
The council has also taken into account accommodation, such as the Town Hall rental and rates; car parks; Enfield Park; town maintenance; grants; cemetery and library.
All councillors voted in favour of the increase in precept.
