A CHARITY based in the Bude area is on the lookout for a home for six-year-old greyhound Tiggy.
Tiggy is one of around six retired greyhounds, being looked after by the North Cornwall and West Devon branch of the Retired Greyhound Trust in a kennel near Bude, who needs a home.
Mike Bowman, of the North Cornwall and West Devon Retired Greyhound Trust, part of the national charity that finds homes for greyhounds when they retire from their racing careers, said: "Tiggy would make a lovely pet for someone living in the country. He is a beautiful black dog, who has a lovely temperament and is playful, but doesn't like sudden noises and really just wants a peaceful life. He is very loving and would be particularly good with a retired couple or individual who may already have a dog.
"Tiggy is just one of many lovely black retired greyhounds we are looking to home. We think black greyhounds are stunning — and we always seem to have more black dogs and bitches than any other colour. Greyhounds are very placid and are therefore particularly good with children. But they also make excellent companions for the elderly as they are loving animals and do not need large amounts of exercise. We always try to match a suitable dog with the requirements of the future owner."
The Retired Greyhound Trust is always on the lookout for volunteers to help raise funds and ensure the charity can continue its great work in caring for retired greyhounds until homes are found for them.
