DOGS could be banned from a town's park as the council continues its battle against fouling and pets off leads.

Holsworthy Town Councillors are due to discuss the possibility of banning dogs in Stanhope Park at the full council meeting next Wednesday.

The proposal has been raised following numerous complaints from the public, including members of the town's cricket club and youth football club, who often have to dispose of the faeces before using the grounds.

Holsworthy AFC Youth team use the park to train during winter and hold tournaments in the main circle.

Managers of the club pick up dog faeces almost every time before the youths play, said Beverley Birch, youth welfare officer for the club.
