PERSONAL trainer Costa Demetriou has completed a 277.94 mile bike ride from London to his family’s house in Jacobstow to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Costa, 25, was aiming to cycle the distance in less than 24 hours to raise money for the charity which has had quite an effect on his family.
He was a little disappointed that he didn’t achieve his target of 24 hours, however he achieved it in 28 hours and 35 minutes.
Costa left London and cycled to Cornwall via the New Forest and Blackdown Hills.
He met his sister Elizabeth outside Egloskerry Parish Church where they then cycled together the final 10 miles of the planned route to the family home in Jacobsow to a rapturous welcome by the family.
The objective was to complete the distance in honour of his grandmothers who both suffer with Alzheimer’s and to raise as much money as possible to go towards the research that is very badly needed to try and eradicate this disease.
Costa extended thanks to all his supporters for their encouragement and generous donations to the Alzheimer’s Society. Currently the donations via Just Giving are £700 and are still coming in.
