LAUNCESTON Memory Café has been awarded £3,000 in the Lloyds Bank Community Fund 2014.
The grant, presented following votes from members of the public, will enable the charity to continue doing good work in the community.
Launceston Memory Café — the oldest in Cornwall — gives community support to people living with dementia.
The fortnightly café meetings, attended by some 60 people, provide a welcome break for those suffering from dementia and their carers. A team of experienced volunteers offers an afternoon of friendship and support, enhanced by social activities and refreshments.
In addition, regular outings are organised for the full time carers, who appreciate the break and the opportunity to socialise with others in the same circumstances.
