FROM August 4-9, 40 members of Bude Running and Triathlon club (RATS) will attempt to cover the entire 350 miles of the Cornish border in just six days. The relay, incorporating running, swimming, cycling and kayaking, is in aid of two charities: Children's Hospice South West's Precious Lives Appeal and Cornwall Air Ambulance.
Day 1: Tuesday August 4 – 11 legs between Bude and Looe, including a cycle from Saltash to Muttoncove and a kayak from Muttoncove to Cremyll.
Day 2: Wednesday August 5 – 17 legs between Looe and Maenporth, including a swim from Polruan to Fowey and a kayak from Place to Maenporth.
Day 3: Thursday August 6 – 17 legs between Maenporth and Marazion, including a swim in the Helford River.
Day 4: Friday August 7 – 15 legs from Marazion to Godrevy, including a kayak from Carbis Bay to Godrevy.
Day 5: Saturday August 8 – 12 legs from Godrevy to Padstow.
Day 6: Sunday August 9 – 13 legs from Padstow back to Bude, including a swim from Padstow to Rock.
The main organisers are Kelvin Turner running and fitness coach who regularly competes in many running events and is world Versaclimber record holder, and Bridget Funnel who is also well known throughout Cornwall for various sporting events and who ran five marathons in five days on our extremely undulating Cornish roads and last year completed the Marathon Des Sables a six day endurance race across the Sahara desert.
