HOLSWORTHY’S Memorial Hall was bustling with people last Saturday who had come to look, admire and take the opportunity to buy unique Christmas gifts at this year’s craft fair, organised by Holsworthy Family Workshop Resource Centre.
From its modest beginnings 30 years ago in the youth centre this annual event has grown into an impressive celebration of local artistry and craftsmanship
Inside the hall on 30 stalls local crafts people and producers displayed a wide variety of quality goods.
These included jewellery, pottery, coloured fused glass, wooden bowls and clocks, knitted and felt goods as well as Christmas cards, soaps and herbal medicines.
Visitors were invited to try delicious chutneys, jams and honey as well as sampling Christmas cakes.
Zoe Collins of Halwill, a Shiatsu practitioner, was gently massaging a client, and along with other children, four-year-old Sophie, helped by Zoe Fordham, busied herself creatively with materials from the scrap store, making Christmas stars.
Proceeds from the fair go to help the work of the centre, which provides a comprehensive support service for voluntary groups and families in the community, and runs creative workshops for children and parents.
