Saturday kicked off a week of events leading up to Delabole Carnival. The day, celebrating all things Cornish, started off with a floral dance from Medrose Chapel to the playing field.Despite the wet weather, around forty people took part in the dance wearing wellies and raincoats! After the floral dance many events were held in the marquee on the playing field including Cornish crafts, a Cornish hat making competition, slate splitting, and entertainment from the Delabole School Samba Band and the Tintagel Male Voice Choir. Due to the bad weather some items were cancelled, including the tug-of-war, Cornish wrestling and aircraft aerobatic displays. The day finished with music from the ever popular Cornish Wurzels, which was well attended. Alison Stacey (carnival secretary) hoped the weather would improve for the carnival procession which takes place this Saturday at 7pm.
