The Neighbourhood Community Cooking Project in Boscastle has had a busy few months as they continued to provide meals for families in need.

The group started to provide meals for the community a year ago and have since grown in what they can provide.

Group founder, Julie Potter explained that as of November 2020 – lockdown number two – she had ‘stepped up her game’ to provide 100 meals a week and support 60 people in the local community.

Fast forward into lockdown number three, and they are providing more than 330 meals (plus puddings) as well as supporting over 100 people a week.

Julie explained the types of people the have benefited from her service. She said: “People out of work, those suffering a bereavement, people out of work, the elderly living alone, those recovering from illness, families and so many more.

“I cannot give enough thanks for the support I have received from the local parish councils, Cornwall Council, local businesses, and members of the public and not forgetting the great team I have around me pealing, chopping, portioning, and delivering the meals. At present we are a small family team of four to stay safe and keep our recipients safe.”

They are currently providing meals for residents of Tintagel, Trethevy, Boscastle, Camelford, Delabole, St Teath, Davidstow, Slaughter bridge, and all in between.
