A Neath man, accused of anti-social behaviour outside a Saundersfoot nightclub, has been given a 12-month conditional discharge.

Twenty-one-year-old Jake Roberts, of Cwmgwrach, pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to comply with a Section 35 direction issued by police officers, excluding him from an area for a period of eight hours, when he appeared at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Ellie Morgan told magistrates that the defendant had been ejected from the village's Sands nightclub, at around 1 am, on March 22, due to his and a friend's behaviour inside the premises.

"Mr. Roberts and his friend were refusing to leave the area and being disruptive. They started pushing doorstaff around outside the club and the police were called," explained Ms Morgan.

The pair refused to get into taxis in the vicinity to leave the area when asked to do so by police and also refused to sign Section 35 notices issued to them.

"Mr. Roberts was shouting persistently and being aggressive. He requested an officer's details as he said he wanted to report them, and then made a phone call to someone claiming that the police were touching and grabbing him, which was clearly untrue," continued Ms Morgan.

Both males were arrested, with Mr. Roberts's friend, 19-year-old Joshua Robert Williams, of Glannant Place, appearing in court last week, at a separate hearing, where he pleaded guilty to the same charge, and was given a 12-month conditional discharge, and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £15 victim surcharge, magistrates were told.

Mr. Roberts's solicitor, Mr. Mark Layton, told the court that his client had shown exceptional remorse and regret for the incident.

Magistrates gave the defendant a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered him to pay costs of £85 and a £15 victim surcharge.
