LOCAL members of the Cancer Research UK Group staged their biannual concert last week with St Joseph’s Girls Choir and Plymouth Area Police Choir at Launceston’s Central Methodist Church.

Once again the two choirs performed their own programmes in turn, coming together at the end of the first half, with audience participation, to sing Jerusalem.

To end the second half, singers from other choirs were invited to join in the traditional Monte Christo.

Brian Gerry and Liz Mann were the musical directors and accompanists were Rosemary Fox and Jonathon Mann.

Maureen Ryder-Gordon, chairman of the local CRUK, expressed thanks to everyone who helped to organise, perform and assist to make an enjoyable evening.

As it was to be Mrs Mann’s last concert with St Joseph’s Choir and the Police Choir, Brian Gerry presented her with a commemorative plaque and Valerie Spry expressed the charity’s appreciation with a floral bouquet.

The amount raised during the evening was £1,180.
