THE organisers of the Budelicious Food Festival have announced new photographic and limerick competitions to be judged at the 2019 event, which is to be held from September 21 to 23.

The Post has teamed up with the organisers and will provide one of three judges for each competition, and will periodically publish selected entries.

Rules and how to enter can be found at www.budelicious.org

Rupert Brendon, owner of the Falcon Hotel, Bude, who is providing the prizes, said: “We wanted to add a fun activity that would allow the public to get involved in a hands-on way. Again we are pleased to provide the venue, and support staff to make the Budelicious Food Festival happen.”

Linda Winstanley, chair of the Bude Area Tourist Board, added: “We are supporting and promoting the two competitions, because we think they will reach visitors beyond the immediate area, and help keep Bude top-of-mind, throughout the year.”

Festival visitors will be able to buy street food from kiosks, and are then free to wander the Artisan Food & Drink Hall to sample and buy epicurean delights from local food and drink producers.

They will then proceed to the garden marquee to see chef demonstrations organised by Peter Gorton, Master Chef of GB.

Peter said: “Last year I called in many ‘markers’ from chefs, food producers, and my contacts in the trade; they all responded beyond my expectation. This year the kitchen and staging will be generously provided by Karl Pendleton, West Country Meats.”

Foodie Fortnight precedes the festival weekend, where participating Bude eateries will offer their own interpretation of Budelicious Specials.

Nick Chadd of Chadds Foodsmiths, said: “We are proud to sponsor this event which showcases the diversity and excellence of local food and drink.

“Chadds Foodsmiths has served the catering trade in the Bude area, and throughout Cornwall for the last 70 years, and we are proud of our roots in Bude.”

There will also be local singers, musicians and a area with family activities throughout the weekend.

The third sponsor is St Austell Brewery Top Job Cornish IPA whose trade marketing manager, Marc Bishop commented: “We are delighted that almost 2,000 people attended Budelicious last year, and hope this event will become an established festival in Cornwall.”
