A PROJECT commemorating the community of Camelford and Advent during the first world war is to go ahead, thanks to a Heritage Lottery Fund grant. Camelford branch of the Royal British Legion is behind the project, which will research what happened to the community between 1914 and 1918. The grant application process began in February and since then letters of support have been received from various Camelford organisations, such as the town council, the Old Cornwall Society, Sir James Smith's Community School and many more. Once the final application was submitted, the decision process took six to eight weeks and, on Friday, Cameron Valentine, chairman of Camelford RBL, received the good news that it had been approved. He said: "We're over the moon. Without the grant we would never have been able to do it. It's brilliant."
