A SHOCKING incident which saw a man threaten a shop attendant with a meat cleaver before making off with £1,000 has brought the best out of the Bude community in the week before Christmas.
The incident occurred at the Candy Shop on Belle Vue at around 2pm last Wednesday.?A man entered the premises armed with weapons understood to be a knife and a meat cleaver, before threatening a female member of staff and stealing the contents of the till.
The experience had been a distressing one, her colleague Bill Williams said, but the support shown by the community since has been most heartwarming.
