The minutes of the 2024 AGM were read by the secretary and the financial statement brought by the treasurer Liz. Buckingham. Sylvie gave the chairman's report. The committee were all willing to continue for another year.

Unfortunately most of the fund raising scheduled this year could not happen but some already planned for 2026 and other ideas would be appreciated as well as for new venue's for next year's club garden visit.

Notices of events in the Devon and Cornwall area were advertised especially the area show in Bude on November 27 and 28. Several members volunteered to act as stewards at the event. After the meeting members made small foliage arrangements using a wide variety of autumnal material.

The next club evening at the Methodist Hall will be on November 11 at 7.30pm when we look forward to Fiona Hammond's imposed demonstration entitled "Take That". Everyone welcome.

Luncheon

The monthly luncheon for October was held at the Methodist Chapel at Shop on Wednesday 22nd.

Grace was said by Rev Meg Slingo.

Thanks go to Rob and Dawn Leighfield for preparing such a delicious chicken meal and to all the team for helping to serve and to those who washed up and set up the Chapel ready for worship the following Sunday. Desserts which followed were all given and made by members and friends of the Chapel and teas and coffees rounded off the meal. This month a percentage of the takings are going to the Shelterbox Appeal.

There was a surprise for two of our regular monthly lunchers. Luke Francis, head postmaster of Bude General Post Office, travelled up from Bude to present Reg and Sylvia Hambley, who travel from Kilkhampton to our lunches each month, with a Telegram of congratulations from Their Majesty's The King and Queen. Reg and Sylvia (nee Harris) were celebrating the occasion of their Diamond Wedding Anniversary the following day. They were married on October 23, 1965 at Kilkhampton Methodist Chapel by the late Rev Ron Dale.

Members of both Churches took part in the service, and the organist was Dionne Bere. Coffee, tea and cake was served after the service.

Harvest Festival at Chilsworthy Methodist Chapel was celebrated on Sunday, October 12, when the service was led by Dean James of Bridestowe. The front of the Chapel was beautifully decorated with flowers, grasses, fruit vegetables, eggs and as well as a mass of non-perishable food products on the steps to the stage, each Chapel window was also filled with similar items.

Worship singing was led by Christine Tratt and Sandra Shepherd on the keyboards, Mark Shepherd on guitar and with Avril Glessing, Pamela Newton and John Cleave as vocalists.

The service was followed by our usual time of tea, coffee and chat, during which the chapel was rearranged for Harvest Lunch around the round tables. After Dean said Grace, the hot Harvest Lunch was served, followed by desserts, teas and coffees. Any offerings given were for the work of Andy Jerrard and Tearfund. Non-perishable food items were later given to Holsworthy Food Bank and fresh fruit and vegetables were placed in the Holsworthy Community Fridge. Thank you to all who gave in so many ways, enabling a wonderful celebration of the plentiful bounty of harvest.

Lesley Coxon welcomed everyone, highlighted notices and introduced Cath Paddon of Holsworthy who led the Cafe Style Worship at the Chapel on Sunday, October 19.

We worshipped the Lord by singing: 'In Christ alone', 'God's Spirit is in my head', 'When I was lost you came and rescued me' and 'Lord for the years'.

The singing was led by Dionne Bere on keyboard and with Avril Glessing and Maxine Whenmouth as vocalists.

The tech desk was operated by Ros Watson and Ruth Jones.
