TOWN council members in Launceston held a community lunch for local residents last Friday, December 6, at the Town Hall.
Around 100 residents were treated to a festive lunch which was planned, prepared, cooked and served by town councillors.
The lunch is the town council’s way of saying ‘Happy Christmas’ to some of the town’s elderly and lonely residents and is always well received by those who attend.
Mayor of Launceston Cllr Dave Gordon told the Post: “We all enjoy this event, but it wouldn’t happen without the support we receive from our businesses and we have to say a big thank you to everyone who supported us, Philip Warren Butchers for supplying the meat, Tesco stores for the vegetables, Francine’s Fish & Chip Shop for the potatoes, along with Launceston Rotary for financial assistance.
“Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and our guests were entertained throughout the lunch by the children of St Catherine’s C of E Primary School choir, who sang carols, and helped serve the invited guests.”
