THE founder of Camelford Community Larder is hoping to raise £100 for the project, in order to provide female hygiene products for those who need it.

Trina White, who set up the Camelford Community Larder in the summer to encourage avoidance of food waste and also to provide an every-day facility for people to collect food items if and when they need it, is now looking to raise money for her project so she can provide female hygiene and sanitary products for women and young girls in the community.

Although the larder has only been established for a number of weeks, it has already hit off successfully, being a central facility to provide food items for those who need it in Camelford

Trina is keen to be able to provide a service for anyone in the community, seven days a week. She said that the larder would complement the already existing food bank service that comes to Camelford every Tuesday from 2pm until 4pm at St Thomas’ Church.

In addition to the food that is donated and provided from the larder, situated at 15 High Street in Camelford, Trina now hopes to put together female hygiene kits, in particular aimed at young girls at school who could be experiencing ‘period poverty’.

This is experienced mainly by young women and girls of school age who are unable to afford sanitary products and often miss days at school when on their period due to embarrassment.

Trina is hoping to raise £100. To donate to the cause, visit www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/foodlarder
