STAR, the small Yorkshire Terrier went missing from her rural home, just outside Callington, on Thursday, April 14.
Her owner, Lisa, was very concerned and made a call to the public via social media to help locate the missing family pet.
Lisa and her friend, Kate Williams, spent every day and night searching through fields and woodland area — but despite their efforts they could not locate Star.
Star has a strong bond with Lisa’s autistic son and it was very important to the family she was returned home.
Many people posted on a Facebook site set up to help find Star and showed their support for the family. Volunteers came forward to offer their services with Mark Utley kindly bringing out his tracker dog Nellie, John Doswell took his drone to the skies, and Kite Vision, a local video drone company, also donated their services.
On the support the family were receiving, Lisa said: “The sense of community spirit is palpable and heart-warming, and there really aren’t enough words to express how thankful we are to everyone that’s helped so far.”
Star has since been found and on April 21, was reunited with her family.
They posted on the Facebook page:?“So unbelievably over the moon!!! What a little trooper fending for herself in the woods for seven days!”
They expressed their gratitude to all those volunteers and supporters who helped bring little Star back home on the Facebook page.
Kate said: “The way the community pulled together to help find her was outstanding. We’re very lucky to live amongst so many amazing, kind people.”
