CAMELFORD Leisure Centre reopened on Wednesday, January 2 after Cornwall Council handed the responsibility over to members of the community.

Wayne Jordan-Shilling has worked at the centre for 10 years and has been appointed as the new centre manager.

He said: "We are very pleased to have opened the Camelford Leisure Centre. A big thank you to all those volunteers and directors for helping us through the Christmas period.

"Thanks also to Tim Bookham, life saver at the Bodmin Leisure Centre, for training our lifeguards. A very happy new year to everyone and come along to support your centre here at Camelford."
