AN opportunity for schools in Launceston and Holsworthy, who support those with additional needs, to get some extra funding has been given by RGB Building Supplies.

The buildings supply company has reopened its ‘Well Built Community Fund’ and is now asking schools to get in contact with them to hear how they could be in with a chance of receiving a donation of £1,000 worth of building materials.

The building materials can be used to help a school complete a project. Whether a school would like to create a new outdoor space, complete essential repairs or give their building a spruce up with a lick of paint, RGB would like to hear from them.

The community fund has seen RGB already donate £1,000 worth of building materials every month to a different group.

RGB are now looking to make further donations in the coming months to a local library and a group that forms part of the scouting movement.

Tony Jackman, branch manager at RGB Launceston, and Les Ellender, branch manager at RGB Holsworthy, said: “This year we [RGB] have already donated £1,000 worth of materials to a heritage project, a community centre and an amateur dramatics group.

“The fund is our way of giving something back to the local areas that have supported us throughout our 160-year history and we look forward to hearing from schools detailing how we could help with their project.”

Schools are able to nominate themselves by emailing [email protected] explaining what they would use the materials for.

Nominations can also be made by sending a letter to RGB Community Fund, c/o PMW Communitcations, PO Box 167, Bideford, Devon, EX39 9DU.

The closing date for nominations is midnight on Sunday, October 23. From all the nominations received, RGB will narrow it down to three and then ask the local community to vote for the school they would like to receive the £1,000 worth of building materials.
