A NEW committee is to be formed to forge fresh impetus in the campaign for an improved road junction at Plusha on Bodmin Moor.
The junction, where the B3257 meets the A30, has long been a black spot for road traffic.
Vivian Hall, Conservative Cornwall Councillor for Altarnun and local member for the area, said: “There has been much bitter disappointment in the division earlier in the year when Highways England refused to take the drafted scheme ahead and fund the necessary improvements at the site, including a split level junction.”
Cllr Hall added he had raised the matter personally with the last transport secretary, Patrick McLoughlin MP, and would do so again with his replacement Chris Grayling, while he was also putting pressure on Cornwall Cllr Bert Biscoe who is the portfolio holder for transport.
Cllr Hall said: “I believe a more structured approach to the campaign will pay dividends, which is why I am leading the way on this issue and hope to get this problem sorted once and for all. It is vital the public are protected wherever they live; in rural areas as well as towns.”
The committee, to be formed of parish councillors, will be meeting in the next few weeks to formulate a strategy for renewing the campaign.
