The Launceston Fibromyalgia Support Group recently held an open forum meeting to give members a chance to give their input and ideas to help the group develop and prosper. A total of 24 members attended the group. There has been a change in the committee — Sue Shephard-Stainton has become treasurer and Lin Singer vice chairman. Marion Gavin remains chairperson and Angie Symonds secretary. Nicky Tullet also remains on the committee and two new committee members were elected. The group welcomes people with ME (Myalgic
Encephalomyelitis), CFS (Chronic Fatigue
Syndrome) and other related arthritis conditions. They have a benefits advisor, ME co-ordinator and support officer. All new members are welcome. Launceston Fibromyalgia Support Group is the only registered charity from here to Bridgewater and members come from all over Cornwall to attend. The next meeting on Wednesday, December 9 is a demonstration by Harriet Hollingsworth on Reiki and Indian Head Massage. This will be followed by a Christmas buffet organised by the committee and fancy dress. The support group meet on the second Wednesday of each month at The Dingley Hall, Launceston Methodist Church from 10am until 12 noon.
