A SHOW full of comedy, action and colour set in a spectacular circus is promised when Holsworthy Amateur Theatrical Society’s 2017 pantomime opens for a two week run on Monday, January 23, writes Christine Williams.

‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ tells the story of Goldilocks, who runs away from her wicked guardian and finds herself at a ‘Big Top’ where she is adopted by performers, clowns, jugglers and acrobats and is helped by the three bears.

Producer Heather Prouse and director Sarah O’Connor have reported that rehearsals are going well, with the cast of 20 honing their circus skills for the show.

Hannah Cook will play ‘Goldilocks’; ‘Sophie Sawdust’, the owner of the circus, will be played by Peter Whitehead, and Phil Barfett appears as ‘Gasper Grey’, an evil money-lender. Mike Wonnacott is the musical director.

The show runs for 14 performances between Monday, January 23, and Saturday, February 4, (except Sundays). Curtain-up is at 7.30pm and for Saturday matinees at 2.30pm. Tickets (£8, with concessions at £6) can be purchased from the theatre box office between 10am and 3pm from Saturday December 31, thereafter from Mondays to Saturdays.

Tickets can be reserved by calling 01409 253826.
