IN the run up to Christmas Launceston folk will be able to get into the spirit when an ice-rink arrives in the square.

The chamber of commerce presents ‘Food and Rink’, which will take place on Friday, November 20 from 3pm to 10pm; Saturday, November 21 from 11am to 8pm and Sunday, November 22 from 10am to 3pm, with food from Firebrand Bar and Restaurant and No 8 Café and Deli.

Skating costs £4 per adult and £2 for under 13s. A family ticket for a family of four is £10.

The festive light switch on, also organised by the chamber of commerce, takes place on Thursday, November 19.

Entertainent in the town square from 5.45pm includes Magic Martin, followed by music and singing from the Launceston Pop Choir and Launceston Town Band.

The lights will be switched on by the carnival royalty with the mayor and mayoress. All proceeds will be helping to light up Launceston for the festive season.
