MEMBERS of the team who will provide care at North Devon Hospice's new outreach centre in Holsworthy will be at the launch of the building plans next Wednesday.

The outreach centre, the Long House, aims to bring care closer to the people of western Devon to make a real difference to those affected by life-limiting illnesses.

The open event, to be held in Holsworthy Memorial Hall, will offer the chance to meet some of the people who will be delivering care and support, including hospice nurses, counsellors and therapists, as well as viewing plans for the building.

North Devon Hospice staff who have been working in the area are excited about the prospect of the new centre.

Counsellor Christa Friend, who has been supporting people in the community for over 35 years, and has worked for North Devon Hospice for the past ten years, said: "I have seen that when someone is living with a life-limiting illness, everything that was thought to be secure becomes shaken and unstable. Our loved ones, both adults and children, can also be deeply affected.
