ON Saturday, September 24, Launceston College took a group of students up to Bude to compete in the Quadrathlon event.
The event contains the four events of 800m swimming, 30km cycling, 10km kayaking and 10km running. It can be completed as an individual, pair or team.
The Launceston College team included Eoin Baker, a Year 13 who took on the 800m swimming, George Hooper, from Year 13 who completed the running section, Ieuan Bluett, from Year 12 who did the kayaking and, in his first ever competition, Ryan Williamson, from Year 10 who completed the cycling section.
The team did fantastically and finished in the top five, which out of almost 50 teams/individuals is a great achievement.
Individual times were: Eoin — 18:10, Ryan — 1:07:09, Ieuan — 59:32, George — 41:04. This gave a team time of 3:05:56.
This was a very difficult event and the team’s effort put them higher than other more seasoned performers. The boys were a credit to Launceston College.
l AT the beginning of the Summer term at Launceston College the Causley zero sanctions initiative was enrolled to all Causley tutor groups from Year 7 to 11. Each tutor received a poster of a mountain in a bid to improve behaviour and to earn praise.
Students are encouraged to climb up the Causley Mountain every two weeks by not receiving any sanctions.
7PKD became the first most successful tutor group with no sanctions, earning them the Causley Zero sanctions Cup.
A spokesperson for Causley College said: “Hopefully future generations will see 7PKD engraved on the cup and recognise them. Good luck to all tutor groups in trying to win the cup, which will be announced just before the Christmas holidays.”
