The event had been organised by Graham Baker who, like many others in the locality, had learnt to swim in the sea pool and had been devastated when he learnt of the possible closure.
Graham said: "To learn of its closure two or three years ago was a bit of a blow, not for just personal reasons but a threat for Bude's heritage, tourism, and local daily swimmers who enjoy the quiet charm of a morning paddle."
