OPTIONS for a Costa coffe shop in Bude are being looked into, but there are ‘no firm plans in place at this stage’, the Post has been told.

A Costa spokesperson said: “One of our franchise partners, a local business person to the area, are currently looking into options for a new Costa in the Bude area but have no firm plans in place at this stage.”

The spokesperson said the company was expanding nationwide ‘in line with customer demand and opening new stores right across the country’.

“Where we’re planning a new Costa, we work closely with the planning departments in local authorities across the country and focus on bringing investment, choice, jobs and a full range of benefits to the communities we’re keen to serve.”

Last year, plans for a Costa coffee shop in Launceston Town Square prompted more than 200 objections, as listed on Cornwall Council’s planning website.

Permission was granted by the council for the shop at 24 Broad Street in August 2014, and it opened earlier this year.
