A MAN who collapsed with heatstroke while running on the coastal footpath at Morwenstow was helped by Bude Coastguard Rescue Team.

The team was paged at 5.09pm on Saturday, June 9.

After liaising with the paramedics on scene, it was determined that the best course of action was to evacuate the casualty to hospital by helicopter.

Rescue 924 — the Coastguard helicopter — was tasked and members of the Bude Coastguard team prepared a suitable landing site in advance of its arrival.

Hartland Coastguard Search and Rescue Team was also tasked to back up the Bude team.

The casualty was stretchered to the waiting helicopter and was subsequently flown to Derriford hospital.
