A COUNTRY club near Milton Damerel has been recognised at a national awards ceremony.

Woodford Bridge Country Club came sixth in the countryside hotels category at Simply the Guest Awards on Wednesday, January 14.

The former 15th century coaching inn is owned by Diamonds International Resorts and thatched restaurant provides a focal point for visitors.

In an industry first, LateRooms.com's Simply the Guest Awards were presented online from The Savoy Hotel, London, by comedian and TV star Alex Brooker, most famous for appearing on The Last Leg, The Jump and numerous panel comedy shows.
