IT WAS forks and trowels at the ready for a group of seven committee members of Holsworthy Hamlets Flower Club last Wednesday evening, writes Christine Williams.
In Manor Court, an oasis just behind the museum, Holsworthy is fortunate in having a work by renowned sculptress Barbara Pearson, who was the wife of local GP Dr Alex Pearson and who lived in the town for many years.
The women were concerned about the shabby cobbles and untidy flowerbeds surrounding the sculpture and, having contacted Torridge District Council for permission, set to work, cleaning, brushing and planting.
