MEMBERS of Clawton Young Farmers Club have just celebrated their successful year with an end of year dinner.

Throughout the year the members have been busy raising funds for their chosen charities — The Farming Community Network and the Devon YFC New Rural Hub.

They commenced their fundraising with a re-run of their drama, which members were extremely proud reached the county final this year, and this was soon followed with an Easter bingo.

August was the month that saw the fundraising flourish starting with the annual Summer Ball at the new venue of Holsworthy Market by the very generous permission of Kivells.

With a great attendance thanks were expressed to all that assisted making this a fantastic event and to all those that gave prizes for the draw.

The following week six members then got on their bikes to cycle from Lands End to Holsworthy Show Ground — 104 miles. This raised an outstanding £1,218.80 of the money given.

At the end of year meal the club gave £1,671.71 to The Farming Community Network and £853.41 to Devon YFC New Rural Hub.

The evening also saw the club celebrate members’ achievements, and trophies for the year were awarded: Senior Male — Gareth Hutchings, Senior Female — Jenny Tratt, Junior Male — Sam Merchant, Junior Female — Roxi Smith, Best New Member — Sam Merchant, Rally Shield — Steph Colwill, Best Club Sheep — Jenny Tratt and the Members’ Member — Sam Merchant.

The club said: “With thanks to the members, leaders, advisory and supporters Clawton YFC have continued their success and are now looking forward to a new YFC year.
