A GRAND civic event was set to be held by Holsworthy Town Council on Wednesday (May 3) — a first for the town.

The annual meeting was held in the Memorial Hall, Holsworthy, starting at 6pm.

It included the presentation of the Freeman of Holsworthy award and the newly created Community Champions Awards, which seek to acknowledge those who the mayor Jon Hutchings says have ‘done a good job for the town’.

During the evening town grants were set to be presented and the investiture of the ‘Mayor’s Cadet’ was held.

Light refreshments were served and there was music entertainment provided by Holsworthy Town Band.

The annual town’s meeting of the town council was held last Thursday (April 27), in the Market Hall.

Last week’s event was a chance for electors of Holsworthy to pose question to councillors and suggest new projects for the town.
