GLADYS Cook from Tintagel has been awarded the Camelford Rotary Club Citizen of the Year accolade.

Gladys was born and raised in Michaelstow, the oldest of five children. She went to school in Michaelstow and then to Sir James Smith's Grammar School in Camelford.

She started work in a bank in Launceston where she stayed until her marriage to David on January 1, 1963. The couple have lived in Tintagel all their married life and brought up their three children in a happy family home, while Gladys is still involved with the local chapel and Women's Institute.

If you want help to raise money for a charity, and if it involves cooking, Gladys is the person to have at your side.
