Camelford Town Council has been looking for a suitable area of land close to the existing Lanteglos Churchyard for some time. Most of the land surrounding the churchyard is either agricultural land or is under water, so the council has decided to try to acquire some of the agricultural land to extend the churchyard. Mr Ross Cobbledick, the owner of nearby Bowood Park Hotel and Golf Course, has suggested a piece of land that may be suitable for this purpose. Representatives from the town council, local funeral directors, an architect and land valuer met at the location recently to examine the site and discuss plans. Clerk to Camelford Town Council, Mr Brian Groves, said the site appeared to be acceptable to the funeral directors. He has since spoke with the architect, who has started preliminary work with a view of sending initial proposals to the planners. Mr Groves said space is quickly running out at Lanteglos, and at best it would last for 18 months, but at worst 6 months.
