A HOT chocolate morning, instead of the traditional coffee morning, was a steaming success in St Breward recently.

Year on year the event has raised more money for the village church, and this year it was maintained by generating more than £300.

Church treasurer and organiser Caroline Hooper said: "An excellent result and a just reward for the effort put in by so many people.

"This time, alongside the tombola was a stall selling everything new and, of course, the bric-a-brac was groaning with yet more bargains.

"The fruit basket and general raffle were as popular as ever and the book stall proved worth browsing.

"A big thank you to all the helpers, donors and, of course, those who attended."
