A NATIONAL Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS) ‘Church Trail’ was recently established at the Holsworthy Mission Community churches.

A NADFAS Church Trail is a question sheet that guides children, and accompanying adults, round a church and encourages them to engage with the architecture, history and furnishings.

The aim is to encourage eight to 12-year-olds and their families to learn about the building and inspire them to visit and enjoy other churches.

Pauline Stewart and Canon Tim Newcombe, both of NADFAS, gave a presentation on the establishment of Church Trails in the Holsworthy Mission Community churches.

The presentation was given in Ashwater Parish Hall on February 10. This was followed by an exploratory visit to the Ashwater Parish Church led by Rev Jane Lucas.

Rev Lucas of the Ashwater Church was the host. The church tower is undergoing extensive repairs and refurbishment presently to repair the ‘leaking roof’ to prevent further damage to the interior fabric.

Further information on any of the above can be obtained through Jane at Ashwater Parish Church.
