ST ENDELLION received enormous media interest when it was announced that Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife Samantha had decided to name the daughter born to them while they were on holiday in Cornwall, Florence Rose Endellion.

Prebendary John May, the priest-in-charge and his clergy colleagues as well as parish councillors and other local people were interviewed on national and local television and radio by many journalists.

Everyone in the parish was surprised and delighted at the news and congratulations and good wishes are being sent to the couple.

The church has sent them a card depicting an icon of the saint which was created for the church by iconographer John Coleman, suggesting they might like to have the baby baptized in the church.

The Friends of St Endellion are also planning to invite Mr Cameron to be a patron and their baby to be an honorary member.

Prebendary May has written a special welcome to the baby on the churches' website. http://www.northcornwallcluster.ord.uk">www.northcornwallcluster.ord.uk

Mr Robertson said: "This is absolutely wonderful news. The Prime Minister and his wife are regular visitors to the area and I'm delighted that their links to Cornwall will now be even stronger.

"Cornwall is a fantastic destination for visitors and this is definitely a holiday that they and their family will never forget. I wish them all the very best."
