THE church bells rang out as Week St Mary held its street party on Saturday, June 12, to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.
The weather held off just long enough for a sumptuous tea to be gathered in a marquee in the Square and a large crowd gathered to celebrate at a long line of tables decorated in red, white and blue.
The Bright Sparks drama and singing group set the scene with their rendition of ‘Food Glorious Food’ and the crowd sang the National Anthem before the Rev Tony Windross said grace.
After tea there were many garden games to play and the biggest attraction was the World War Two American Jeep and trailer exhibited by Dick Sowerby, which was scrambled over by young and old alike.
Thanks were expressed to all who helped to make such a successful party.
