ST THOMAS Church in Camelford held its Christmas Tree Festival recently.

The annual event sees different groups and individuals bring their trees along to put on a light display and raise funds for the church.

There were sessions from 10am-12.30pm on Friday and Saturday morning and an evening slot on the Saturday, which ran from 6pm until late.

The event is the brainchild of Val Bluett and this year she opted for the lights, while there were displays from other churches around Camelford, including Souls Harbour, locals and the memory café.

Among the local displays were Val’s arrangements and displays and Maurice Brown’s tree and window display in the lady chapel.

Church member, Wendy Harris, said it was an excellent couple of days.

She said: “We’ve done it for several years and it always goes very well. On the two mornings there were probably 15-20 on each day but on the Saturday night we had a lot of people in. There was certainly a lot of cups to wash.”

In total there were 15 annointed trees as well as flower arrangements and Wendy thanked the local community for their support.

She added: “I’d like to thank everyone who made it such a success, who did trees and who came along and supported by having tea and coffee.

“In total, we raised £250 towards church funds, so it was a great weekend.”
