THE members of Lezant Lunch Club met at 12.30pm in Trebullett Methodist Hall on Wednesday, December 13, for Christmas lunch.

They were entertained firstly by Brenda who had every one in fits of laughter and afterwards by the upper class of Trekenner School.

As usual, the cooks and helpers — who were Ruth Burden, Sue Oatey, Mike and Thelma Prettejohn, Irene Nash, Anne Foster, Maggie Kent, Diane Anderson, Janet Lyle and Veryan Milne Home — provided an excellent meal, which was as expected, roast turkey and gravy, roast potatoes, sausage, stuffing, bread sauce, carrots and Brussel sprouts. The Christmas pudding was served with brandy butter and custard.

Despite the awful weather conditions, Mr David Reardon found transport to get the children to the hall in order to perform their Christmas carol nativity service.

The first item was ‘Silent Night’, performed with handbells and recorders, followed by ‘Little Donkey’ and ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem’.

Handbells and a recorder solo was accompanied by Mrs Sue Phipps on the piano, the children sang ‘Away in a Manger’, ‘While shepherds watched their flocks by Night’ and ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’.

The pupils had learned their words well for the narrations and to the carols. Finally a medley of Christmas songs was sung.
