THE annual Camelford Community Christmas Breakfast is to go ahead this year.
The reins of the fifth event, to take place on Christmas Day, have been taken over by Melanie Baber, Claire Hewlett and Tristan Halliday who are keen to continue the tradition in Camelford, providing a hearty and delicious breakfast for local people to kickstart their Christmas Day.
Helen Ward, who has been running the event since it began in 2015, is taking a well-earned break this year, but the new organisers are excited to see the popular festive event unfold for 2019.
Mel Baber, one of the new organisers, told the Post: “We’re really excited to be hosting Camelford’s fifth community Christmas breakfast this year.
“This is very much a community project, and wouldn’t happen without all the wonderful volunteers, donations of food, and support of so many people.”
The team for 2019 are appealing for donations — from food to volunteers. Mel continued: “If anyone is able to donate anything, or can volunteer to help set up on the 24th (December) or help out on Christmas morning, it would be very welcome.”
Flocks of local people have already offered to help out in any way they can, including Gary Down at Hilltop Farm Shop in providing loaves of bread, Alan Brecknell at the Camels Garden with some fresh produce, and Cornwall Councillor for Camelford Rob Rotchell who will be providing a few extras such as cereals and juices.
But there are still a few items that are needed before the big day. These include butter, margarine and marmalade. Volunteers are also needed to help set up on the afternoon of Christmas Eve and on the day itself.
The fifth Camelford Community Christmas Breakfast will take place on December 25 from 9am until 11.30am at Clease Hall.
