TWO Bude based chilminders, Michelle Kennard and Lindsey Kinsman, visited Bude Fire Station recently.

Michelle and the children have been studying a topic called 'Things that go' which has involved participating in activities based around vehicles.

Michelle thought the children would love to experience a real fire engine and ambulance so she teamed up with

Lindsey to arrange some visits.

Therefore, Michelle and Lindsey took the children in their care (aged 17 months to four years) and some parents with their children to visit Bude Fire Station.

The firefighters told the group all about their jobs, showed them their uniforms and then took the children to see inside and outside the fire

engine.

The children were able to sit inside, sound the siren and hold the hose. The firefighters also gave the children some lovely activity books to take home. The children, although shy, really enjoyed the afternoon. One child told Michelle the best bit was when the fireman showed her how to squirt the hose!
