A ‘POP Till You Drop’ event has recently taken place in Camelford, contributing towards funds for a couple’s London Marathon charity.

Matt and Sam Allan are due to run the London Marathon in April this year, and have been hosting a variety of fundraising events to add to the money that they will donate to FLEET (Front Line Emergency Equipment Trust).

On Saturday, February 12, the pair hosted a Pop Till You Drop event in Clease Hall, Camelford, welcoming children of all ages to come along and get active.

The event, which was completely self-funded by Matt and Sam, managed to raise £383 for FLEET, which helps communities with installing and fundraising for defibrillators — devices that help individuals in the event of a cardiac arrest or heart attack.

They covered over two thirds of Camelford Hall’s floor with large-bubble bubblewrap as well as one of the walls and the front of the stage.

Matt explained: “We invited as many children as we could squeeze in to help us pop all the bubbles! Using the power of social media we had 53 children arrive to join in the fun. We couldn’t resist purchasing specially made bubble wrap suits to greet our guests as they arrrived.”

The children were given the chance to purchase an envelope containing popping candy, and within 12 envelopes were golden tickets enabling the winner the chance to get on the buubble wrap first!

The winner of a separate game — last one standing — won a giant teddy!

Matt and Sam now have a bingo event in April — along with the 26-mile marathon.

Matt said: “We would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who arrived today to help make this happen, it was amazing!”
