LAUNCESTON Lions engaged in the Worldwide Week of Service for Youth by holding a competition, asking youngsters to create their own plate mask of a lion face.

Children recently attended the Tesco fete to enjoy seeing the lion faces they had all made.

There were two age groups, which included an under five category, won by four-year-old Emily, and an over five category, which was won by Emma, aged seven.

Regardless of winning all the children enjoyed and relished the challenge of making a lion face on a paper plate, using materials, wool, paper as well as coloured marker pens.

A spokesman said: “This was felt to be a very worthwhile exercise as this project also made the parents aware of Lions, and a lot of interest was shown.”
