DO YOUR children like games and craft activities? Do you wish there was more time in the week to do things together as a family? Would you like someone else to cook tea so you could all sit down and eat together? Now there is somewhere where all these things can happen — Messy Church at St Teath.
What makes Messy Church so special is that it is especially geared towards children and their parents or carers so it is a lot of fun and there is always a delicious meal to eat together.
It is also held at a time in the week which many families find easier to
manage than the more
traditional Sunday service when they are often busy with other activities such as sports clubs, shopping etc.
A spokesman said: "It is also very encouraging to see the church outside of its traditional building and at the heart of the village."
The February session of Messy Church saw 20
children and their parents come together for the usual fun craft activities — the younger children especially enjoyed the water play (not messy but very wet) and cardboard box Noah's Ark with animal puppets, while the older ones
enthusiastically took on the rainmaker challenge to make the best sounding rainmaker they could!
This exciting new venture is being funded by St Teath PCC (Parochial Church Council) and
kindly supported by local people giving their time and energy, whether by baking yummy cakes to share together, helping with craft activities or
tidying up afterwards!
Thanks have been extended to Barbara and Laura Strachan who between them produce a delicious 'messy feast' each time, much appreciated by children and parents alike. The next session is on March 25 at 3.30pm in the Church Hall, focusing on Easter. All children and their parents, grandparents and carers are very
welcome!
