What a week the children, parents and staff at Little Acorns Nursery in Camelford experienced! A visit to Camelford Ambulance Station, a visit from local coastguard to learn about beach safety, safety in the home and a visit from local nurse who tried plaster casting on some of the children. Road safety was also covered, with a visit from Camelford PCSOs Sam Smith and Terry Groves. The children used the 'little steps' toolkit and used role play using a pelican crossing. The week finished with a trip to Bodmin Fire Station, with a ride on the fire engine, setting off the siren and having a go with the hose. The parents were given a quiz about safety to share with their children and the winner, Rachel Evans, was presented with a large bar of chocolate. "This week is really enjoyable," said Helen Sleep, nursery manager, "but it does get the message across to both children and parents the importance of safety."
