CAMELFORD Young Farmers Club held its annual general meeting at Juliots Well Holiday Park on Wednesday, September 15. Over the past 12 months the club, under the stewardship of chairman Tom Jones and secretary Clare Ragg, has raised a phenomenal total of £7,823.66 for various charities. In February £732 was raised for Cancer Research UK with a 'dung run', followed by a charity tractor ride from John O'Groats to Land's End in April which yielded £6,455.19. A Cornish Wurzels evening in March raised £253.60 alone for the Robert Johns Leukaemia Fund and a 'wine and wisdom' quiz at Tintagel Social Hall, held recently, led to £286.26 being donated to the RNLI. The club presented Mrs Sally Moore and Mrs Pam Boundy of Cancer Research UK with their cheque at the AGM and thanked all members for their support with their fundraising efforts. Following the presentation it was the turn of Tom and Clare to thank everybody for their support over the previous 12 months, as they would be stepping down from their respective roles and new people fulfilling them. The election process saw Jenni Carthew elected chairman and Lucy Franklin as secretary for 2010/11.
