THE Holsworthy branch of Waitrose recently presented a cheque for £569 to the Holsworthy and Okehampton branch of Guide Dogs for the Blind. The money was raised through the 'Community Matters' scheme, in which every customer is given a small green token at the till and they place it in the box for their chosen charity or group. Three nominated charities are chosen each month and at the end of the month, the money is split between them. Representatives from the Guide Dogs branch, along with three dogs, went to the store recently to pick up the cheque. Phil Kensley, operations manager, said: "It's fantastic that we are able to support these local charities that do such good work in the community." If any other local charity or group would like to be included in the Community Matters scheme, forms are available in the branch to fill in.
