Visitors to Milford Fish Festival will be treated to demonstrations from two female chefs who are passionate about healthy wholesome food later this month.
Lisa Fearn from the Pumpkin Patch Kitchen & Garden and Ellen Picton from Healthaspire will join the growing list of attractions on Saturday, June 27, to carry out cookery demos in the kitchen, kindly donated by Pembrokeshire County Council.
The Pumpkin Patch Kitchen & Garden teaches adults and children of all ages and abilities how to cook in a traditional farmhouse kitchen in the heart of the Towy Valley. The demo has been sponsored by Cywain Fisheries.
Lowri Edwards from the organisation said: "We are delighted to be supporting Milford Fish Festival this year. Cywain Pysgod is dedicated to adding value to fish and shellfish caught or farmed on Welsh shores and works with local fisheries businesses across Wales to develop new products and access new markets in order to sustain a future for the sector."
Ellen Picton, who is a health coach from Milford Haven, has also been enlisted to help visitors learn how to cook healthy, fresh food.
She said "I was so pleased to hear that the Fish Festival will be going ahead after the cancellation of Fish Week earlier in the year. As a business owner on the marina it's such a huge opportunity to showcase my company and to be involved in a great event. It's going to be a very busy day, but I can't wait!"
In addition to the cookery demonstrations, organisers of the festival will be holding the inaugural 'Milford Chowder Trail' which will take visitors around Milford Marina on the day to sample fish chowder from the wide selection of cafés and restaurants. Giving each a mark, the winner will be decided by the participating guests, and be named 'Milford Chowder Champion 2015'. A full list of chowder venues will be announced shortly.
Since the announcement about Milford Fish Festival, the Port of Milford Haven has received valued support from partners eager to back this community event; however, some sponsorship opportunities are still available.
Organisers are also seeking volunteer stewards to assist on the day. Anyone interested in helping or sponsoring can contact [email protected]">[email protected] or call 01646 696360.
